Lake Travis’ football players regarded their third-round playoff victory over Los Fresnos on Friday like a plate of Thanksgiving leftovers. The Cavaliers’ 12th consecutive triumph of 2016 tasted as sweet as a second slice of pumpkin pie, but it also functioned as nothing more than a warmup for next week’s main course: a state-quarterfinal rematch against Westlake, their bitter rival.
The two District 25-6A foes will play at 7:30 p.m. Friday at 11,000-seat Reeves Athletic Complex. And after their 54-7 rout of visiting Los Fresnos, the Cavaliers (12-1) quickly turned their attention to the Chaparrals, who rolled past Laredo United 55-15 Friday.
“We actually prepared for them some this past week, and we’ll spend every second getting ready for Westlake this week,” said Lake Travis linebacker Mateo Lopez. “It should be fun.”
